This neighborhood ultimately started with 1,300 acres of land, called initially Sunny Slope Ranch. It was an agricultural area that L.J. Rose owned. Soon enough, several wineries rose in the area. Sierra Madre Vintage Company, Sunny Slope Winery, and Mountain Wine Company are only some of the famous wineries that operated from 1865 until 1923. In 1885, a railroad reached the community: Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley Railroad. Thanks to this railroad system, Lamanda Park garnered plenty of attention from other neighborhoods.
